Colour

Paper and ink, with a forest voice.

Paper and ink carry the page. Forest is the brand. Tomato is kept for a single call to action. Select a swatch to copy its hex.

  • #0A5638

    Forest

Primary action, hero and footer. The brand voice.

  • #F4532F

    Tomato

One marketing call to action per view, and campaign bands.

  • #F5CBBF

    Pink

    Marketing bands and secondary fills.

  • #FDF4F3

    Paper

    The default canvas.

  • #1A201D

  • #F7EBDD

  • #141D19

Proportion

Roughly: paper, ink, forest, then pink and a single note of tomato.

  • Use flat colour. No gradients, glow or blur.
  • Text meets WCAG 2.2 AA: 4.5:1, or 3:1 for large text.
  • On forest, use cream text. Never put tomato text or a tomato button on forest.
  • Never use pure black or pure white, and never rely on colour alone to show state.
  • Dark mode is built from the forest, not inverted from paper.

Typography

Three typefaces, three jobs.

All three are open source under the SIL Open Font Licence, so you can install and use them free.

  • Young Serif

  • Martian Mono

    Set at 87.5% width.

    Get on Google Fonts
  • Use the serif at 28px and above. Never in tables, forms or buttons.
  • Write in sentence case. Emphasis comes from size, not italics.
  • Fall back to Georgia for the serif and the system sans for text if you can't embed fonts.
  • Times are 24-hour (19:30). Dates read Fri 17 Oct. Prices carry the currency symbol (£63.00).

Voice

Plain-spoken, like a good floor manager.

We write for people who are busy and mid-service. Short, specific and warm, with the cause and the next step.

Writing our name

  • TablePort: one word, capital T and P.
  • Not Table Port, Tableport, TABLEPORT or Table-Port. The only lower-case form is the web address, tableport.io.
  • The logo is a drawing. In running text, set the name in your own type.
  • Our line is "Run your restaurant, not after it."
  • We make restaurant software for independent restaurants and small groups.
